All the fluids in a vehicle have a responsibility, whether it be lubrication, cleaning or cooling.  In all these cases the fluids will “time out” with mileage and time. Keeping the fluids clean and replacing them is an insurance of component longevity and preventative maintenance which will lower breakdown repair costs.

Engine oil performs many functions in an engine, Lubrication, Cleaning and Cooling. Not changing your engine oil on time or frequently will cause the engine oil to break down and not perform its intended duties. This will cause damage to your engine and could be quite costly to repair. Todays higher revving and smaller engines require clean oil for components to operate correctly and efficiently. Restricted oil journals, low oil levels and dirty oil can cause other drivability concerns as newer engines rely on engine oil to perform functions related to camshaft timing and cylinder deactivation.

The serpentine belt is a multi-groove drive belt that drives most or all the engine accessories, Alternator, power steering, water pump and air conditioning compressor. The groove depth is the determining factor of the wear of the belt. There is tools available to measure this depth/wear, cracking and chunking of the rubber grooves are also indicators of wear. Typically, the belt has a lifetime of 60,000-80,000km, along with the serpentine belt the tensioner and idler pulleys will wear and should be replaced as a combined repair.

All Season tires are a general use tire where snow and ice are not a common occurrence.

Although they can be used in wet and cold conditions, they are not rated for best performance in those conditions. All-Weather tires are hybrid tires meant for year-round use including winter and summer. They are rated with the three peak mountain snowflake rating that allows for winter highway travel. They are typically softer tires and will wear faster in dry conditions.

Unless your vehicle is equipped with a brake pad wear sensor the best way to stay on top of your brake pad wear is to perform regular inspections. Typically, these inspections would be performed with regular tire rotations every 10,000-15,000kms. It is also recommended to clean and lubricate the brake caliper and components in these services to allow for even and consistent wear of the brake pads and identify any issues before they develop.
